Bison were very common across the world during the last ice age, however after the mass depletion of the ice fields and displacement of animal populations that followed, many species of mammal including this species of bison which died out as our modern-day bison took dominance after them. This bison toe bone is dated to the Pleistocene and has been found in Devon, UK.

 

Please note that these stones are natural and have been unaltered, other than being polished smooth.
